The Inspiration
When I was a child, I loved eating boiled crabs with my mom and little sister on the kitchen floor of our small apartment. A couple of years ago, I cooked my own crabs for the first time, but when I tried it, I didn’t feel that same joy as a child. It was then that I realized that I was missing the perfect, complementary sauce: my mom’s homemade jeow.
Jeow, the Laotian phrase for sauce, is joy, and we are dedicated to bringing that joy to everyone.

The History
Vatsana (VAHT-sah-nah) is the Laotian name of Johnny's mother prior to her gaining U.S. citizenship.
The hot sauce recipe is an evolved version of a popular Laotian sauce used in many different dishes, but pairs particularly well with seafood, and more specifically, shellfish.
